What we do today determines tomorrow.
For us, sustainability means taking responsibility – for our products, our processes and our environment. With innovative materials, energy-efficient manufacturing and durable solutions, we are doing our part to ensure a sustainable industry.
Our contribution to sustainability
For us, sustainability is not a trend, but a central component of our company philosophy. As the world’s leading manufacturer of plastic components for sustainable packaging solutions, we see every product as an opportunity to take responsibility and make a measurable contribution to environmental protection.
Our goal is to strike a balance between resource efficiency, cost-effectiveness and technical performance – while always maintaining the highest quality standards.
Our products are designed to be not only durable and robust, but also to help reduce resource consumption. They minimise transport damage, extend the service life of packaging and reduce the need for spare parts. In addition, their design minimises the risk of injury during assembly and handling. Their reusability and complete recyclability make them an important part of sustainable packaging solutions.
We also focus on the responsible use of resources in development and production. Every product is developed with its entire life cycle in mind – from the selection of materials and energy use to its return to the recycling cycle. Our manufacturing processes are continuously optimised to use materials and energy as efficiently as possible.
Our packaging solutions are developed with a clear focus on conserving resources. We carefully select materials to combine maximum functionality with the lowest possible environmental impact. We rely on recyclable and reusable materials that not only extend the service life of our products but also reduce material consumption throughout the entire cycle. In addition, E-K-S Bioline® raw materials are used in our applications on request. These are based on renewable and sustainable sources and offer an environmentally friendly alternative to conventional plastics. Through precise manufacturing techniques and continuous process optimisation, we ensure that waste is minimised and raw materials are used efficiently. In this way, we make an active contribution to conserving valuable resources.
We see sustainability not as a limitation, but as a driver for innovation. With every new product, we develop solutions that combine environmental responsibility and technical performance. Our research and development focuses on making packaging smarter, lighter and more resource-efficient. Modern materials, new construction methods and digital development tools help us to create products with a reduced carbon footprint and, at the same time, increased safety and durability. For us, innovation means transforming sustainable ideas into market-ready, practical solutions.
Sustainability can only be achieved through cooperation. That is why we rely on close partnerships with customers, suppliers and employees to break new ground together. We listen, analyse requirements and develop solutions that combine ecological added value and economic benefits. Open communication and shared responsibility create trust and enable us to consistently align projects with sustainability goals. This results in packaging solutions that not only impress today, but also help shape a better future in the long term.
Because packaging can do more.
E-K-S Bioline® paper fibre
Sustainable paper fibre – a bio-based alternative with a future
Our E-K-S Bioline® paper fibre consists of ISCC Plus-certified corn starch and residual materials from the PEFC-certified wood industry. It contributes to reducing dependence on fossil raw materials and promotes a sustainable plastics recycling economy. Thanks to a biogenic carbon content of around 45%, the CO₂ balance is significantly improved – significantly less fossil CO₂ is released during disposal.
The material is mechanically recyclable, biodegradable and industrially compostable in accordance with DIN EN 13432. It is cultivated without genetically modified organisms (GMOs) on non-agricultural land, which promotes biodiversity and conserves food-growing areas. In addition, E-K-S Bioline® paper fibre meets the requirements of the RoHS and REACH directives and can be easily integrated into existing projects.
E-K-S Bioline® Sugar Cane
Bio-based plastic made from sugar cane – sustainable and high-performance
E-K-S Bioline® Sugar Cane is based on sustainably and ethically grown sugar cane, ISCC Plus certified. This bio-based alternative reduces the use of fossil resources and improves the greenhouse gas balance through the absorption of CO₂ during plant growth. Compared to conventional LDPE, approximately 4 kg of CO₂ can be saved per kg of material.
The material is mechanically recyclable, enabling a closed-loop circular economy – this means that recycled material can be obtained from E-K-S Bioline® sugar cane products, which can then be used to manufacture new products.
Here too, no GMO plants are used, cultivation takes place on land not used for food production, and biodiversity is promoted. E-K-S Bioline® sugar cane complies with RoHS, REACH and SVHC requirements and can be used without technical modifications.
E-K-S Bioline® – Sustainability in series production
With E-K-S Bioline®, we focus on packaging components made from bio-based materials that make sensible use of renewable raw materials and reduce fossil-based plastics. Our E-K-S Bioline® handles are functional, resilient and recyclable – and help to improve the environmental balance of packaging in the long term.
At the same time, our quality remains as you know it: reliable, durable and precisely tailored to industrial use. E-K-S Bioline® is our answer to the question of how to combine technology and responsibility – ready for series production, immediately usable and economically attractive.
